Echo (エコー, Ekō) is a member of Desalmada and the right hand of Asteroth. She is also a member of God's Right Seat, holding the tile Echo of the Right.
Appearance[]
She is a pale-skinned, blue-eyed girl, with black hair in uneven twin-tails; the right lock of her hair is shorter than her left. She bears two scars on her midriff. A blue flame shoots out from her left eye. Her clothes consist of a string bikini top under a black jacket. The jacket has a white stripe running along the length of each of her sleeves and has a white star design on the front (left side) and back. She also wears a pair of tight-fitting shorts, gloves, and black knee-high boots.
Her weapons consist of a black-hilted katana later named as Black Blade and a large gun called ★rock Cannon.
Personality[]
She is depicted as a calm and collected girl, not speaking at all until her she is talked to, she only shows fear when Asteroth becomes angry towards something and fears for her life. She is shown to be sadistic when fighting enjoying hurting other to the point it causes her to burst into maniacal laughter. She also has an insane side to her, this manifests itself and her "other self". Her insane self is represents the lose of her humanity mixed in with the alteration that Asteroth preformed on her, her insane self is prideful and teases her a lot she is also the source of Echo's power and denies her access to her full power.
History[]
Echo as a Human.
Mato Kuroi was Echo's human name she lived a happy life with a loving family however she had very strong spiritual energy and could clearly see souls and Shinigami, she kept this to herself for many years. On her sixteenth birthday she sensed a strong soul arrive at her home-town and decided to confront it, the soul was Asteroth who had arrived in the human world to find more souls to work on the Tower of Souls when he sensed her he was amazed and killed her human form, as a Soul, Mato gained access to several abilities and used them to attack Asteroth in anger and confusion for what he had did. Her lack of combat experience was her downfall and Asteroth defeated her and took her to the Tower where he experiment on her and modified her body and powers to suit his needs.
Eventually Echo forgot part of herself and she christened herself, Echo, which she believed was appropriate as she was just an Echo of her former self. Asteroth discovered that his experiments had an unseen side affect on Echo, due to the pain and suffering that he put her through he had created her other self, a mentally unstable version of Echo herself who had access to her full powers.
This caused Asteroth to put blocks on her personality which caused her to lose more of herself and caused her insane self to become stronger. Eventually, Asteroth partnered her up with Eclipse who would distract her from losing control, but this did not work and Asteroth was forced to accepted that his perfect weapon was flawed. In an effort to prove she was worthy of serving Asteroth she began to gain control of her emotions and created a stable personality in which her other self could not break into and thus Asteroth made her his right hand.
Plot[]
Tower of Souls arc[]
Echo, along with Eclipse brought Teiboku to Asteroth who then told Eclipse to leave the room. Echo then awoke Teiboku who then is killed by Asteroth to gain access to the Key for the Tower to be transported to the Human World.
Later she blocks off one of the exits so that the workers could not escape. She watches as they are absorbed into the Tower. After rejoining with Eclipse she argues with him over the idea of mobilizing her armed forces to deal with any Shinigami incursions. The argument gains the attention of Asteroth who quickly kills Eclipse for calling him boss, the act greatly shocked Echo. Afterwards she accompanies Asteroth to the Tower's control room and watches as he transports the Tower to the Human World.[1]
Powers & Abilities[]
Immense Spiritual Power: For a soul that is not a Shinigami, Echo has the same size reaitsu of a strong Captain-level Shinigami. She can unleash her full power at will which causes weaker opponents to drop on their knees due to the overbearing strength of her reaitsu. Her spiritual power allowed her to resit the Tower of Souls absorbing affects long enough until a Tō-dai was placed on her. When she unleashes her reaitsu it is blue in colour.
Expert Swordsmanship Specialist: Echo wields a giant blade called the Black Blade, she is able to wield it to fight off Shinigami or other opponents. She is able to cut into objects with ease. Due to the size of the blade she created her own fighting style which allows her to best enemies that are far stronger than herself, albeit with some difficulty.
Master Hand to Hand Fighter: Echo is skilled at fighting Hand to Hand she was able to hold off hundreds of worker who wanted to escape before they were absorbed into the Tower with ease.
Cannon Master: Echo signature weapon is a cannon that she attaches on her arm called the ★Rock Cannon. She has used this on many occasions, she is able to at will change the size of the ammo she is using.
Black Shooter[]
Black Blade[]
When wielding her Black Blade she is given access to abilities that she can use against her opponents. She can stream her reaitsu into the blade to increase its cutting power by vibrating her reaitsu she is able to create a numbing effect when wounding her opponents.
- Energy Blast: By channelling her reaitsu into her blade she can unleash a blast of energy by swing her sword. This cause a large area of destruction on anything it hits. She has been seen keeping the energy in the blade to increase the strength of her blows.
Power Mode[]
Echo in Power Mode.
A blue flame emits from her left eye which signals her entering her Power Mode. In this mode her abilities increase to the point where she can overwhelm a Captain-level opponent.
- Enhanced Speed: Power Mode increases her speed to the point she can keep up with a Bringer Light Master or a Shunpō Master.
- Enhanced Strength: Her already impressive strength is augmented further by entering Power Mode. She is able to send strong opponents flying with a single well placed punch.
Insane Mode[]
Echo in Insane Mode.
After losing her mind to her other self, Echo's blue flame turns purple and he personality changes to her other self. Echo's powers are enhanced by her other self making her a dangerous opponent.
- Enhanced Spiritual Power: Her already immense spiritual power is enhanced further, Echo in Insane Mode is able to expend a large quantity of her reaitsu without showing signs of fatigue.
- Enhanced Strength: Echo's strength is enhanced to the point she can stop John Anderson's punch, enhanced with his Fullbring.
- Enhanced Speed: Her speed also increases to the point she can over take a Bringer Light Master with ease. She is also able to create after-images of herself with the speed.
- Enhanced ★Rock Cannon: Upon entering Insane Mode, Echo's ★rock Cannon changes form and it power increases and instead of being able to fire three shots every five minutes it can fire limitless shots.
Creation and Concept[]
Echo's looks and some of her powers are based off Black Rock Shooter a character from the the OVA Black Rock Shooter.
